Safety around the lakes

Due to the operation of the Nant de Drance pumped storage power station, the water level of the Emosson and Vieux Emosson lakes can rise and fall at any time. These fluctuations make the banks unstable and slippery. It is therefore dangerous to venture out.

In winter, the numerous changes in water level weaken the ice covering the lakes. It is therefore extremely dangerous to walk on the Emosson and Vieux Emosson lakes, even when they are completely frozen.
