HYDRO Exploitation reprend le mandat d’exploitation de la centrale de Nant de Drance

Sion et Finhaut – Le Conseil d’administration et la direction de Nant de Drance SA ont décidé de confier l’entretien et l’exploitation de la centrale de Nant de Drance à HYDRO Exploitation SA dès le 1er janvier 2025, mandat assuré jusqu’à présent par les CFF. L’équipe d’exploitation actuelle reste en place, assurant ainsi la continuité des activités et le maintien des connaissances.
The Trient: balancing flood protection and biodiversity

Nant de Drance SA is implementing 14 environmental compensation measures in connection with the construction of its pumped storage power plant. These include ecological restoration and flood protection on part of the Trient watercourse at Vernayaz. The first phase of the work – enlarging the Trient – is a key step in the flood control programme.
Nant de Drance blows out its first candle

1 July 2023 marks the first year of operation of the Nant de Drance pumped storage power plant. For the past year, the 900 MW plant has been demonstrating its importance in stabilising the Swiss and European electricity grids in the face of intermittent solar and wind power generation. The machines have proved to be extremely reliable, enabling the plant to respond very flexibly to market fluctuations.
The inauguration of Nant de Drance

The ninth of September 2022 will remain a significant date for Nant de Drance. The inauguration of this 900 MW pumped storage power plant in Valais, Switzerland takes place today. The event marks the end of a 14-year construction project involving hundreds of workers, skilled workers and engineers from all over Europe working in a challenging alpine and underground environment. Simonetta Sommaruga, member of the Swiss Federal Council and Roberto Schmidt, President of the Valais Council of State will participate in the official inauguration ceremony. The festivities will be dedicated to today’s youth, future generations and the future of energy.
Commissioning of Nant de Drance

After 14 years of work and intensive testing, the Nant de Drance pumped storage power plant in Valais will be put into operation on 1 July 2022. Thanks to its six extremely flexible machines and a power capacity of 900 MW, Nant de Drance power plant is set to play a key role in the stabilisation of the Swiss and European electricity grids. It will also contribute towards the security of supply of electricity in Switzerland.
